Hosted by Poh Ling Yeow, we join her quest to expand her knowledge of food. In Poh's kitchen she is joined by some of Australia's leading chefs and together we explore fresh and exciting new recipes.This April, TLC’s kitchen darling, Poh, is on the lookout for some inspiration to create more fantastic food. Switching her apron for a map, Poh heads to some foodie paradises and little known culinary gems in Australia, Singapore and Thailand. From getting herself acquainted with the rich food scene in Singapore to understanding the basics of Thai cooking in Thailand to clocking up some pretty fantastic food experiences across Australia, Poh finds that inspiration flows fast and free when she is in the company of the best chefs and locals who are proud to share in their expertise and food culture. Poh kicks off her food odyssey in Australia, discovering the wonderful produce and culinary riches each region has to offer. In the Eyre Peninsula, Poh gets literally hands on with her food, diving with tuna and shucking some of the biggest oysters ‘known to man’. She apprentices with Gordon Ramsay’s former pastry chef, Tasmanian Alistair Wise and creates heavenly puff pastry with stone-ground flour. The Australian alpine region has Poh experimenting with beer in her cooking while the Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia inspires her to make a deliciously simple stir-fried cockle dish. Jetting out of Australia and into Asia, Malaysian-born Poh visits Singapore and Thailand to get a deeper understanding of Asian cooking. Meeting up with expat Antonia Kidman, sister to the famous actress, Poh acquaints herself with the Singaporean breakfast fare of toast, runny eggs and hot coffee. Singaporean culinary stars Andre Chiang and Janice Wong demonstrate their approach to food to Poh, inspiring her to create her own Singaporean dish. In Thailand, Poh learns how to make nam prik, a staple condiment of Thai cooking before meeting up with an Australian chef who is making waves in the local and international food scene with his inspired take on Thai cuisine. Following the success of her first series Poh's Kitchen, MasterChef Australia season 1 runner-up Poh Ling Yeow returns with this 13-part show which sees her combine her culinary skills with travel, as she explores local produce and dishes around Australia and Asia.
