The first two series of The Naked Chef were enormously popular and the accompanying recipe books topped the bestseller lists for months in the United Kingdom. In Australia too, Jamie is a runaway success. He signed a $1 million advertising campaign with Yalumba Wines to attract younger customers, Good Life claims he "has done more for English food throughout the world in the past two years than anyone else has done in the past 100", and he was mobbed at the 2001 Good Food Show in Melbourne.Jamie's trademark is juggling a hectic social life with a passion for entertaining and an undoubted ability to create delicious, unpretentious dishes. He sources the best British scallops off the West coast of Scotland, barbecues on the beach with his surf-mad Aussie chef mates, visits the wilds of the New Forest with Italian friend and mentor Gennaro, and goes back to his old school in Essex to cook for a class of hungry pupils.Back home, his friends are feeling a bit neglected now that Jamie is a married man. So there's a spectacular curry to make amends on a lads' night in when Jules is away.Jamie's 26-year-old wife, Jules, is due to give birth in March 2002. But before becoming a father himself, Jamie gets in some practice as Godfather and cooks a Christening dinner in photographer David Loftus' houseboat. This series also sees him find the time to combine his two passions - food and music - when he visits Jamiroquai's Jay Kay at home on his magnificent country estate, where growing organic fruit 'n' veg and making music go hand in hand.But wherever the location, he's back doing what he does best - providing good food and inspiring ideas. He may have packed away his basket ball, and the locations may be somewhat different in the new series, but the food is definitively Naked Chef.
